The month of May is Military Appreciation Month, a time designated to honor and recognize the contributions, sacrifices, and service of the members of the armed forces, past and present. Also this May, Touchstone welcomes Geoffrey Bowton, a U.S. Army Sergeant and combat veteran, and his exhibition of glass works, Veteran Obsolete, which delves into the complexities of war, post-traumatic stress, and mental wellness, offering a profound exploration of these themes. This creates an appropriate intersection for a day where veterans and currently serving members can convene for a special viewing of the exhibition, plus presentation by Geoffrey Bowton, along with hands-on activities led by Geoffrey and the team of Frontline Arts.
We invite members of the armed forces to join us for this day of appreciation and arts at Touchstone Center for Crafts. Those who work with veterans/military (e.g. trauma therapists, veterans affairs, etc.) as well as family members, friends, and caregivers of veterans are also welcome to attend. Due to sensitive topics of discussion and imagery, this event is geared towards adults and is not suggested for minors/children. Tickets ($35 and $0 options) are available clicking the 'Register' link below.
Frontline Arts is a veteran-led organization that connects communities through socially engaging arts practices rooted in papermaking and printmaking. Learn more at https://www.frontlinearts.org/.
